Ok.. the saga finally ended when my spoon engine and header arrived from japan 2 mnths late..

I eagerly picked up the engine and began the diss assembly of the blown b18c7. The funny thing is the new engine doesnt have a serial??? WTF? So I've spent the last solid 24 hrs installing and checking over everything (i'm a novice and learning alos meticulous - bad combo)

so the engine goes in an hour ago and we find that we have a few more problems. The injectors were cleaned prior to install and their flow rate was 62 ml/minute?

SO.... back to the problems. First things first, I assume spoon dialled in their cams right as th timing belt was already attached? so that left us to muck around with the distrib. This proved a small hassle.

Our big problem is getting the car to idle right with the apexi power Fc. So we changed to the factory ecu. This made a bit of a difference and the car could idle a little better. Now i come to the problem of the t/b. The t/b is spoon and it worked 100% on my last car. I was wondering do you need to adjust the t/b for the car to idle right or should it be hassle free?

So the car is really rough at idle, wont idle past 2500 rpom as it just stalls and dies.. WTF? any insight? please help!

Note: running crappy header for tuning then will install spoon with custom cat work!

spoon engines and blocks do not have serial numbers as the blocks are brand new from Honda.

what stock ecu are you running now?

the spoon engine is just a stock one and there shouldn't be any issue adjusting the engine itself. most likely it's going to be peripheral issues such as electronics, etc.

 

sp could a bad t/b be the problem to symptoms mentioned above or is the possibility of a wrongl\y installed sensor the problem?

 

umm the ecu is from a 2001 dc2 R... AUDM

 

try adjusting the idle control screw just under the TB... check that the IACV is in good shape...

your car need air, fuel, and spark to run... so start by eliminating things that you know are okay.

 

I think you have your map sensor and your tps switched around.

Check your sensors

Also when you install the Power Fc.You have to let the car idle 10 minutes w/nothing on at all lights,a/c etc. With the car still running after the first 10 minutes then turn on the rear defroster.
Final ten minutes turn on the a/c or fan doesn't matter.

This ECU has to learn to idle.

just wondering, how is it possible to switch the tps an map sensors if clips only work one way with honda? is it the sensors or harness?

also I dont have my manaula with me, could you describe location?

 

Both sensors are on the throttle body, and the connectors are the same. Easy to cross them.

 

make sure your spark plugs are gapped correctly too...my friends TEG idled at like 1900 cause the plugs were gapped at 42 thousandths then we brought em down to 33 thousandths and the idle went back down to stock at around 900....just an easy thing that may help out

Were the sensors switched, or what?

 

i havent got acess to my car, its locked in a garage till monday... sigh....

 

hahaha you guys rock, yes it was the map and tps sensor switched round.. switched my headers to spoon from mugen 4&gt;1 and OMG made a huge difference...

well i'm breaking her in... I've kinda stuffed a small thing up, I let it idle for 10 minutes (arghhh) My prcedure so far has been to baby it under 200kms then slowly increase its rev range. i.e. 1000 rpm per 100 kms from reaching a total of 500 kms. I am using "dino" oil from penzoil. the engine feels very smooth!!!

 

i'm intenet illiterate enough as it is, I have troubles posting pics but videos'' now thats an ask.....
