finally installed my bodykit and spoiler!
Finally installled my wings west rs body kit on my rex and my flush mount spoiler. took me a total of 5 hours and i had 5 people working with me, but only me and another guy knew what we were doing so that slowed us down a bit ill go over the process and give you guys some tips in case you wanan install this kit so you guys dont make the same mistakes i made.
First off, get the urethane kit from new way auto, whatever you do, do yourself a huge favor and get the urethane one, i had at first gotten the fiberglass one and then shortly thereafter i sold it and bought the urethane, looking at both i can tell you that the fiberglass would have been HELLto install, i cant even begin to imagine having to deal with that mess, fiberglass cannot handle self taping screws drilled into them! ok now onto the install.
the stock front bumper was hell to take off my car, the 3 top screws were rusted to hell and i endedup stripping all 3 and also breaking 1 of them so i decided to just rip the damn thing off. well the front bumper fit on pretty nicely after some playing around with it, since i had broken one of the bolts on the stock 3 bolt holes up top i opted to just screw the instructions and just use the self taping screws. i drilled them right onto the bumper support and i gotta say that the bumper is really on there tight, it works very well and is very sturdy. the side skirts fit nicely and the double sided tape held it in place pretty nice, i just used some more self taping screws on the wheelwells to hold it in place no biggie. the door caps held in place nicely with double sided tape and i managed to get some self taping screws throught he door and onto the thicker pieces of the door caps, one thing to note is the door cap is not exactly the same size of the door so there is some of hte door that shows, i dont know if this is because they wanted you to have more room for the door to swing open or if they just goofed on the cap. the rear bumper fit really well but it was a little warped so theres a spot where it has a little wide opening about hte size of a pinkie. but it is not very noticable. heres the tips i found out.
1. spray wd40 on every single screw and bolt on the old bumper cuz most of them are rusted to hell and seized up.
2. buy primer, sand paper and some black paint, when you remove your old panels be ready to do some bodywork because a lot of the old metal panels may have rust on them.
3. self taping screws are your best friend, those suckers will go through anything and hold!
4.expect to run into problems, dont say ok this is only gonna take me 2 hours, cuz if you do, your girlfriend will come over after 2 hours wait for 1 more hour after that and get really really mad at you and leave pissed off cuz you said you were gonna be done in 2
. Set a whole day for this project, you may need to go to home depot to replace bolts you brake or any other thing you may need.
5. going by the instructions will help but to complete the installation you will need some creativity on your behalf, the wings west way is not hte only way to do it.
6. dont rush take your time or you could mess something up.
7. get some of your buddies to help you, you will need an extra set of hands helping you lign up everything.

thanks for the tips
i may b getting that kit for my 90 Civic hatch
im not sure,,i may b happy with it after its lowered
where did u put the screws threw the door caps into the doors??
i knew that the door caps r held on by double side tape,,and i know alot of people have probs after time with the tape not sticking good anymore
did u have to take off the side molding on the car??
if so did u go from behind the panels or just rip them off???
i have takin my front bumper off about 5 times,,so i know i wont have the prob u had with yours
but i can seem to get my rear bumper off
got any tips for a civic rear bumper??
r the CRX's the same??
i cant get to the screw that is in the middle of the bumper,,under the lights
i wanted to get the bumper off cuz i have a new rear bumper support cuz mine is all rusted out
wellgood luck with the kit
r u lowered at all??
what kinda clearence do u have in the front??or all around??
do u have a aftermarket exhaust??

the door caps have a thick layer that is held against the door, you can screw the self tapers from the door out to the door cap all along the bottom. Yes you will have to take off the side molding on the door itself, the stock door cap you can just pry down and then it comes off the side molding is held in place by 2 bolts on each side of the door then you can just pry them off, then there will be a metal bracket which you can just pop off but if you wanna save them then you could just squeeze the plastic retaines and itll come out nice and neat. i didnt need them so i just popped the suckas out.
"got any tips for a civic rear bumper??r the CRX's the same??"
just take off the lights then itll reveal the 3 bolts, take off the 2 screws in each wheel well then theres 1 bolt behind the liscense plate holder. not sure if crx and hb is the same, but i figure they should be. If you have problems or strip the phillips head bolts then just take a vice grip to it, thats what i did and it worked fine.

I am not lowered yet, at stock height the bumper has a lot of cleareance maybe 4-5 inches clearance which is plenty. I am having a 5zigen fireball welded into place tomorrow, it comes out the passenger side but i am having it repositioned to the drivers side so i dont have to cut a new hole in the bumper, but clearance shouldnt even be an issue with any exhaust, you can just get longer hangers.

once i lower my civic im gonna decide on if i want a WW kit or not
i was just gonna get the kit,,cuz i would of spent the $$ getting the couple dents fixed,,that r below the molding,,
and,,also i have a lil rust on the pass side door, its fromt the front corner of the door about 6 inches back,,,the bottom edge of the door is a lil uneven
on the rear bumoper issue
i can get to the the 2 bolts that r on each side of the car,,after u take the light off,,but that middle bolt is very hard to get too,,
mayby the rex's r easier,,but i cant seem to figure out how to get the bolt off
also there is a bolt that is behind the liscence plate,,and that thing is rusty,
i tried to unscrw it but it wouldnt budge
i dont think ill mis it if i drill it out,,,,its still got the 2 screws on the underside of bumper ,,and the fender screws
also im not sure about the CRX kit,,but does they rear bumper have a hole for u to put the hatch lock??
i know the civics WW bumper,,replaces that lil metal piece that is right under the tails
i was wondering how hard that is to swap into the WW bumper
thanks mike

The bolt behind hte liscense plate rusted out on mine too all i did was just cuta slit next to the bolt and then just pull the bumper off and it just slid off the bolt. im not sure about hbs but i wouldnt worry about it if i were you, this is the most sold wings west kit for efs im sure they got everything covered, my only prob right now is the tape on the door caps and on some of hte side skirts is wanting to peel off but i think some nice adheasive promoter and a clamp for a hour or so should hold it.
