Help Me W/ Idea's For Tuning My Car For The Honda Challenge Series!!!!
Ok so I drive a 94 acura integra ls and will be racing in the H4 catagory in the honda challenge series. I feel as though the integra ls is on of the best cars in the class due to the extra HP/torque and tuning capabilites. Ok so here is a list of stuff that is done or will be done to my car by early december. V2 Intake, Greddy Header, test pipe, apexi n1 exhaust system, aem pulley kit, tokico shocks, h&r sport springs, ITR sway bar, f/r strut bars, ITR rear wing, rota wheels, fidanza 7.5lb flywheel, act hdss clutch kit, autopower DOM 6 point roll cage, sparco sprint seat, sparco 3" 5pt harness, brembro slotted/cross drilled rotors, SS brake lines, race brake pads????,sparco steering wheel, window net, and fire extingusiher. I will also be removing my AC and stripping my interior completly except for the dash. Does this sound like a good setup so my car can aggresively compete in my class along with good driving of course. Are there any major parts im missing that could benefit me greatly besides an LSD or FD ( lack of funds ), Please keep in mind this is my daily driver also so I can't do any thing to major. Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I doubt you can keep it your daily driver and be competitive in it. Don't jump into racing if you don't know what the REAL costs are. It looks simple by what you've wrote but it gets more expensive. Even for solo2 I've bought a second car because I realized I couldn't make my daily driver as competitive as I wanted.
Ya I have been told that but I kind of have to. I don't need to win the events I just dont want to be getting last place each time. I am only 18 and feel as though I might as well get started early in the racing atmosphere, especially if I want to persue it in the years to come. To keep it some what of a daily driver I will swap back in my AC when im not racing, passenger seat, some panels to keep road noise down, and the stock brakes.
i am taking some track days and doing de1, de2 couse things. Then I am also doing a driver education thing at the speedway for a weekend and upon completling it I get my license.
w2w race car != daily driver. If you cannot afford another car (i'm not saying you ought to have a big blingin tow rig) then you probably cant afford the $1000+/weekend to race.
get out there and get some experience before you really decide what it is you want to do. I guarantee what you end up with will be quite different than whats on your 'list'. And dont skimp on the safety gear - even if it means missing a few races or the whole season.
Best of luck with your HPDE's.
