Default No VTEC

I just baught an accord as a winter beater and I had a question. The damn vtec doesnt work. I was told by someone that if the vtec doesnt work you can blow the engine up. This is a 94 accord ex. I this true?

In order for Vtec to work correctly - certain criteria need to happen, plenty of oil, engine temp., RPM, throttle position - just to name of few.

If you are thinking how Vtec engages on a Prelude - forget it! The Accord engine was made for gas mileage. And before my swap, my old Accord engine (f22b1) would engage Vtec anywhere from 3000 - 3500 RPM.

yeah we might as well not even have vtec.

I have never heard or felt vtec in my f23.
Your motor is fine, it isn't going to blow.

I'm sure it works, you just aren't feeling it because well....the f22b1 doesn't exactly have a beastly change over *laughs*. Any reason you think it isn't working?

trust me I know what vtec is. I'm just not familuar with f22's. I have a turbo charged fully built b16. Thanks for the input. I thought he was full of **** though. I am just used to when vtec kicks in it feeling like the millenium falcon going into overdrive i guess. hahah The damn thing has 180k on it its not like its going to be flogged on.

You say that now, but we all know that no one can resist e-brake drifting in the winter

sohc vtec and dohc vtec are two very different things...you won't hear or feel the engagement of vtec on most f series motors...
