Thanks

If you're planning to run over the stock rev limit it's worth considering. Or spraying nitrous.

Personally I'm running Crower i-beam rods, overkill but hey it's lightweight and I got them for a good price.

yes even if you are boosting. it just allows you to rev higher. But there is no use reving past redline unless you are making power above it and that can be done with a set of cams and ecu. And once you do this, you'll have to do your valve train and you really only you need new valves when you are spraying.

Any time you increase horsepower the force in which the piston is thrown down by the combustion is gonna increase. If you have weak piston rods you have a chance in breaking one of these. Although you will only see this if your making an extreme amount of power, its always a good idea to upgrade the rods if you upgrade your pistons. Plus, its something else you wont have to worry about.

Ok, that's what I thought. Just wanted confirmation.

One more question. Not sure if I should post here or start a new thread. Here goes.
If I use my new engine for racing...what would be the main things I should change internals-wise to increase reliability??? I am mainly asking from a longevity aspect, not to increase power. Rings?? Psitons?? etc???

I want to keep my car as close to stock as possible but I do want to plan ahead to prevent premature wear...and car-downtime.

Thanks

Again, it's all rpm related. If you stay below stock red line, it'll last a really long time. Anything above that and the life shortens in a big way. "Real" race teams could care less, since they rebuild between races. What kind of life do you want out of it? (hint: Saying "like stock" isn't going to get you a gold star. If you want long life, leave it alone.)
