Just curious what your opinion of the hawk is compared to the new sv1000s by Suzuki? I hope VTR switches to FI soon, this model has been pretty much the same since 1997 or so?
I have been thinking about picking one up a buddy of mine has one they are a pretty fun bike. It wheelies easy and handle the corners pretty good, but they are not a fast bike. Like I said I have been thinking about geting a super hawk or maybe a supermotard style bike.
A friend of mine has a '99 Superhawk, its very torquey and I loved it. I thought it had excellent acceleration, and it definately brought the front end up very easily. It also handled very well in deep corners, so I will probably end up getting one.
me,me,me,me....
Vtr1000, very fun. Torquey. here are some pics...This was before i did my wheels
This is after, how it sits now.

Supahchickens are great bikes !
I don't know how you can say one isn't fast ; I think the VTR has a really nice motor . To be 100% honest : once you firm up the forks and replace the D204's with something a tad better , a nice Superhawk is a better streetbike than my Mille R . The tank range is a bit of a pisser but that's my biggest gripe with them ( as if my wrists and back can last out the Aprilia's tank ! ) As far as people who say the chassis flexes too much etc and that they can't keep up with newer stuff - they obviously have never seen one ridden well . Obviously , it isn't a race rep but it isn't intended to be so an excellent rider on a trackday will be able to sense some of its chassis limitations but for 98% of riders on the street , it's possible to ride as fast as anything else . I'd venture to say it's easier to ride a VTR well than a newer 600 - the handling and riding position is really neutral and the motor has lots of really nice usable torque .

I love them, but the new suzuki sv1000s has more hp and tq as well as FI....
The 2004 VTR1000 is same as the old one which broke my heart. I was hoping they would throw the RC51 motor and FI in it.
I may hold out till 2005 to see if they come out with a new vtr1000
