Default Marking tire take-offs

So I want to be able to write on my tire sidewalls in that yellow stuff that all the pro r4c3r teamz use. Any idea what they use to write on tires? I tried a contractor's crayon from Orchard Supply Hardware with no luck and chalk doesn't last long enough. Any ideas?

Most teams use a special crayon sold at places like NAPA. They are made for tires.

lots of chalk, as long as you re-do between every run. I've seen some people use liquid white shoe cleaner.

This is actually to mark the position of each tire on the car when they come off, so it needs to last. I'll look for the marker at Napa.

Try the Valve Action Paint Marker. I have always used the color silver but they come in a variety of colors. Once it dries, which is fairly quick, it won't smudge, smear, fade or wipe away. Cost is about 3-4 bucks a piece.

Here is the site for the Mfg. They have a bunch of other cool stuff as well covering a wide variety of between race hobbies and interests.

Along the lines of shoe polish, glass chalk. Available at your nearest Walmart.

I'd stay away from paint markers. While it probably won't make any real practical problem, keeping solvents away from tires is a good thing.
