SOme times when i start my car it will back fire when i give it gas...when i am driving down the street keeping speed same...car acts like its running out of gas, like its choking, then when i step on it, it will chug chug then start to move. Back fires alot to when i do this. Is the a problem due to back exhuast leak or dirty fuel filter, pump,? What can i do.....I thought it was the injectors...so i put concentrated injector cleaner in the gas adn it seemed to run alittle better but not for long. it could all be in my head.. any one know what is wrong? Also every once in a while ill be idleing and my rpm's go up and down from around 600 to 1500 over and over again for a few min then it stops... also my engin light comes on, mostly when not giving it gas, but i restart car and it goes away for a while...some tiems it doesnt come back for weeks then it just appears again.

 

after reading this a few times... what kind of year make model of car and what engine. almost sounds like the distributor is in the wrong firing order to me. when i screwed mine up it did just about what your saying. did you check the engine code from that light? what is it telling you is wrong?

I printed out the fualt codes yesterday but havent checked them yet.. illdo that later today when i get off work. Some people told me i am misfiring. Do i need to get my timing fixed? I get new plugs and wires so thats not the problem. i thought it was the fuel filter for a while..ill replace that stock one on wed. any help is good....jsut to add..nice job on de-ricing that crfx..much better now.
