Default Engine Rebuild Question aka Machine work

Does anyone know what the valve angle is for honda? I know on my D16Z6 the valve seats are at 45 degrees but what is the valve at? Also what is honda tolerance regarding the margin? is it greater than 1/32" I am rebuilding my head now and cannot find the info anywhere.

just put 45 on the valve
As far as the margin if you have to grind that much off the valve its junk
just clean it up a few .001

I cant put 45 on the valve.. you have to have a 1 degreee difference between the valve and the valve seat.. I was thinking of going 44 degrees since most cars are 46 seats and 45 valves. but I need to know what honda is so I can get this one right.

As far as only taking off 1 thousandths I cant esp on the exhaust side since the valve stem seals were bad and there is alot of carbon on the valves and tons of pitting on the valve face. on some I had to take out .015 off to get out the pitting on just one of them.

What are you talking about .I have never had to grind more than .003 of a honda valve ,THat lil dial your are reading is @ an angle if it says .015 you didnt take of .015... sand blast them ....I do about 3 honda heads a week
And tell me why u cant put a 45 on the valve? Did you just get out of tech school?
Dont allways listen what the book says with a 45 on the valve and a 45 on the seat it will still scrape carbon off the valve seat.........

Well the dial is correct and it reads off the .001 at a time the reason its bad is because the valve stem seals are shot and alot of carbon was built up on the exhaust side.
As far as angles go I cannt see how you can fix a 45 to a 45 and make the correct seal.. WHen I use the pression blue it the seal line is too small and high, even after cutting the 60 45 and 30 I cannot get it right..

ok just take a 70 stone or what ever your using
cut all the way untill you have about .050 left of the seat
now top it off with a 45 lap your margin in and it should be close too the edge of the valve call it a day its not that hard... if ya need help give me a ring
yes u can run a 45 on a 45 we do it everyday....

WTF where did you come up with that? If you saw the conditions of the valves esp when your valve seals are bad and what they can do to your valve face and seats then you will know what I am going thru

believe me I have seen just about anything that could be seen, this isn't my first rodeo and I do this for a living. I am sorry if I offended you with my comment, but I must be honest I can tell you don't have alot of experience and some of your ideas (46 degree stuff)are in my opionion way out there, that is why I suggested you take the head to a shop before you mess it up.
I wouldn't care about carbon build up there could be 9 inches of it and could be caked around the valve to the guide-I would just glass bead the head of the valves face the valves with a 45glass bead the head get a valve job done 45 degree here to , clean and assemble it's really not that complicated

Well it turned out to be the damm grinding machine it was telling me I was taking off 15 thousandths so I changed to another machine and it only required me to take off 2 thousandths on the intake and 4 thousandths on the exhaust.

I did check and the valves are at a 45 degree angle.. thanks to the broken pivot point on the machine..

Yea.. I am learing right now on what to do.. its not that complicated once I got a hold of a HELM and a brand new valve to compare the margins on it.
