Default tires

I think I'm going to pick up some Ecsta 712's this week and was wondering if 215/40/16 would fit fine on stock ride height. To fellow autocrossers, is this good or is 205/45 better? Thanks!!

i HOPE YOU DIDN'T GET THEM YET!!
I just boght a set a week ago and THEY SUCK compared to the stock RE010's.
There is another thread I started earlier today, you gotta check it out. I don't know how to link to it, but there is some good advice for not buying the 712's.
the side wall is made of jello or something. Not impressive at all.

But if you're looking for some 205/50/15's (4 days old). let me know.

You link to it as follows. First, check the URL (website address) on your thread. Then you type in:

Then type in the description - what words will appear in the post. For example:

Then follow it with

Add some text and it comes out looking like this:

Consider the ECSTA V700 competition tire, I'll bet you won't have any sidewall stiffness issues, plus you'll get better traction as well.

Consider the ECSTA V700 competition tire
...if and when it becomes available. Which, right now, it's not.

Once it becomes available, check the treadwear rating. For example, the treadwear rating on the Kumho V700 Victoracer competition tire is 50, and on the Kumho Ecsta 712 tire, it's 340. That means you can expect the V700 Victoracer to last only ONE SEVENTH as long as the Ecsta 712. It will be interesting to see what the treadwear rating is on the Ecsta V700, but I'm not expecting it to be all that great. That's the problem with track tires - they don't last very long.

HokieITR - what are you using the tire for? You mention something about autoX, so I'm gonna assume that you'll use it for autoX and probably daily driving. If such is the case, spend extra $20 so and get either RE730 or spend $50 and get RE01, P-zero, S-02 or etc. In my experience (712, P-zero, RE01, S-02):

1. 712 - good daily driver (most cost effective tire and GOOD wet traction) NOT SO GOOD autoX tires.
2. P-zero - I love these tires... sticky and fairly good wet traction.
3. RE01 - stock tire that is sticky like P-zero, but I don't like the 55 side-wall sizing
4. S-02 - only brief test on S2000, but liked the grip... comparable to #1 and #2.
