Default KYB AGX setup for auto x

hey everyone, i raced my first auto cross the other day and im running KYB AGXs with H&R springs, i had all four corners set at 4 which is the stiffest, im just wondering wat you guys set it at, this is in a 95 civic coupe with b18c swap and yoko avs es 100s on 15s. i was having a good amount of traction issues in the turns, did i have the shocks too stiff?

Next time try softening the front to 2 or 3. Softening them should reduce some chances of unloading front tires and also help the car rotate.

I have agx's and I didn't like the way it handled when I had it on full stiffness. Mine goes from 1-4 in the front and 1-8 in the rear though. It was really too stiff IMO.

So far I like it when the front is on 3 or 4 and the rear is at 6. I'll mess around with it more when I do some time only runs, don't wanna ruin a timed run because of stiffness!

since no one else is asking, what kind of traction problems are you having? don't go messing around with changing the front and rear stiffness until you tell us how it is reacting. perhaps you just need to change your tire pressures. that can make a big difference too. does your car plow, or is the back end really loose? give us a little more info please.

3F 6R with GC's.... been that way since we installed them a few months back.. I have no complaints on the way the car handles. we run Victoracers with 39F 39R.

I recently had mine at 3f/4r with a lot of push occuring. I'm thinking 2f/4r might be the way to go for a starting point.

I have a 00 coupe and run max in the front(4 for mine) and 5(out of 8 settings) in the rear. Of course, I also ride on Azenis and have a 22mm sway as well. I also tend to drive a bit more agressive than others, which caused my car to rotate too much when leaving the rear stiffer and the front softer (or 2f/6-8r)

Understeer. Sounds like concensus says soften the front
some and this should go away.

Oversteer. This time admittedly driver induced so make him stop overdriving. Keep the current adjustment until you get the front sorted out.

your suspension is probably bottoming out causing the understeer

i feel that my kybs are slightly underdampened and leave them at full stiff
