Axle Boot
Does anyone know where to get the boot to replace my torn boots? My Axle is fine. I don't want to spend $160 on a new axle when only the boot is torn. is there a place that sell the boot to do it yourself?
I just went to the local car parts store for one. You could always go to the dealer, but you'll pay more.
Initially, I put a split boot on, but after only about a week, it had started to come apart. I probably didn't put it on properly, but I'll tell you it was a real PITA to do it. So personally, I'd avoid the split boot.
The solid/one-piece boot requires you to pull the axle, but that was worth it to me, knowing that it wouldn't come flying off as I went down the road. I was also never quite convinced that the seal quality of the split boot was a reliable as the solid.
