Default The honeymoon is over....:(

Well,
the inevitable came a bit sooner than I imagined, and I got a ticket in the R today. 94 in a 65, not too shabby eh? Talked to the lawyer today, gonna talk seriously tomorrow when he's at the office (sisters with professionals as boyfriends is great). Any tips to fight this? What have you guys done with your tickets. I know I am in deep ****, but I knew the consequences of my actions. I told the officer that and he seemed to appreciate it and was pretty friendly considering.

Request a supporting deposition 2 days before your court date. Tell the judge that you requested one (HE WILL CHECK) and that you never recieved it.

One of two things will happen. He'll dismiss it if the cops not there or he'll reschedule your court date. On a 2nd appearance you have a much better chance of getting the ticket reduced and/or the cop not showing up on the 2nd court date.

Hope this help! This tactic (which a cop taught me) got me out of a 120/55 when I had my Mustang. On the 2nd court date the cop didn't show and the judge dropped it to a unsafe lane change. 2 points vs. 9 points!

Here's the deal man. I browse this board a lot and I always notice one thing when people post about getting tickets. They always want to get out of it somehow. The point is, you messed up man, just be a man about it and fess up. That's all you really can do. Sorry if I sound too uptight about this whole speeding thing, but I just recently lost a very good friend of mine do to speeding. Just be a man about it and think next time you want to speed! Good luck with whatever you may choose!

Vaporsi, a supporting deposition is what every citizen is entitled to when charged with a misdemeanor and/or issued a traffic ticket. It is a full legal explanation of the charge(s) brought against you. Technically, if you've requested one. You can not be "charged" with ANYTHING until you've recieved it. It's basically a legal loophole that a cop taught me about. It's sometimes helpful when fighting a ticket.

As far as the guy up there who said "just be a man about it", well I disagree with you. Because for every ticket you "deserve" you can also get an ******* cop that will give you petty, unfair tickets for "modified exhaust" or "lowered vehicle". So I say **** 'EM! If you can beat a ticket, then do so!! And we've all lost friends to speed so you're not alone.

H-Pimp,

I agree totaly with you about the modified exhaust and such. But speeding, is there really an excuse for speeding? You tell me.

Yeah, I mean i didnt try to bullshit the cop or anything, and I know what i was doing was illegal. but **** 94 in a 65 is not small potatoes, I'm getting a good lawyer, and let him deal with it. Thanks for the lecture anyways. I too have lost friends to doing stupid **** that people do.

If you wanna speed, don't ****** whine when, not if, you get a ticket.

Frankly my days of flying around on the street are over. I totalled my ITR doing stupid solo **** on twisties, and now I realize it's not worth it. Now I let it all loose at safe venues like auto-x and track events, which I attend even more than before the accident. At any rate, what does going 95 or weaving in and out of traffic get you? 10 minutes shaved off your trip? Great, that's worth it. Think about it when you write the lawyer and the county those big *** checks.

Im with the Pimpmeister on this one, As I have never recieved a speeding ticket for more than 5 over the limit (knocking on wood) Yet I usually do Much more than 5 over (Not condoning Speeding But I have a lead foot sometimes). In the past 3 years I have recieved about 12 tickets and won 7 of them. All 12 were BS Tickets Like Headlights were too bright (HID) Driving in passing lane on a 4 lane road (along with about 20 others) Modified exhaust (had the Carb exempt papers etc they didnt care) I could go on and on But basically I only get these tickets be it BS or deserved when I drive My R.
Since my R has been out of commision for the past 8 months I have been driving a rental and for the past 5 months my Chevelle Convertible In that 8 months I have not been pulled over Not even once. However I get cops stopping next to me and asking "Wow Nice car what year? what engine etc." Now do you think that would happen in the R LOL hell no.. Its all in what you drive the police treat you different.

PS Thanks for the info H-Pimp

105 in a 60 = $337 almost 4 years ago. I didnt go to jail.
It helps if you turn into the nicest ************ that cop ever met when he knocks on the window.

I got out of mine by paying the ticket, and wising up .

damn Rob, that sux. Its a little to easy to go fast compared to the explorer huh? I've been lucky enough to have been ticket free for 4 or 5 years, so I dont have too much to offer as to getting out of it. I always got a lawyer to handle mine and paid out the ***, but I did get out of most of them....

Keith,
yeah it is easy to get movin in the R. Even the cop said "Yeah it is pretty easy to get fast in this area and not realize it". Yes, I have learned my lesson. Track work only for over 90mph...

I agree with TypeRMSM 100% Cops do not mess with domestics AT ALL!!! Coming from a domestic background I know this all too well. When I used to drive my Stang or Grand National, cops used to ask me what was under the hood, how fast it was etc, etc. Even nowadays when I drive my brothers Impala SS cops just give me the nod of approval when they see me. Unlike the frowns I get from them when I'm in my R or my Sol. So all in all imports ARE cop-magnets!

Talked to my lawyer today. If I face the full charge, my license is gone for a year easy he said. But he put me in touch with a lawyer in the county where I got the ticket who knows the DA, and he may have some better news. Lets hope so.

unless you have other charges, it seems hard for me to believe that going 29 over will cause you to lose your license for a year!

NC law is [if it hasnt changed] 15+ over the speed limit AND travelling more than 55mph = lose license[of course this is worst case.....if you get a good lawyer I think you'll be able to keep your license] any prior offenses??

no priors, and one idea was to try and get the speeding offense dropped to reckless (doable legel-wise) and get a prayer-for-judgement for the reckless. We'll see
