Default staging brake vs line lock

ive noticed that most of the drag cars i have seen have staging brakes, and i think thats what im gonna use too, but my dad thinks i should install a line lock. they are both about the same price, but i dont see many imports with line locks. are there any differences in the two, if so which one would you pick and why

I have a line lock but I dont use it. I believe its used for burnouts or to prevent rolling on the line.

they both do the same thing, difference is linelock needs pressure to be applied in order to lock brakes, the staging brake is easier in that you manually lock brakes then gradually release to now drag (rear) wheels towards end of burnout.

Linelock comes in handy at the launch in that you can lock rear brakes with a switch on the steering wheel, etc. and let go when you launch as opposed to realease stagebrake manually ...

i have both in my racecar anyway.

If it were me, id put the line lock on the front wheels so you have no chance of breaking the beams at the line and its easier to load the clutch up. I am also in favor of just the staging brake if you do just 1 thing because you can appy brakeing pressure with just the right hand which really helps with burnouts and stagging of the car.

I like the staging brake for the fact that you can on/off the brake easier.

Search on yahoo or something for CNC staging brake or cutting brake. You usually end up at a VW/dune buggy site. You're gonna need lines for the install.

The trick for installing it is to isolate it to both rear brakes. Your foot operates the front brakes and your hand operates the rear brakes.

saso is right. when running a pro tree it is almost impossible to get it locked before the tree comes down, especially when the other guy is already staged.
