I have my block and head painted... I just used the flat black ceramic based engine paint you can get from your local auto parts store.

not a great pic, but you get the idea.

Try yellow, easy to spot leaks, and yellow = speed.

I wouldn't expect leaks with a new engine

oil leaks are easy to spot. My block's black, and if I spill oil or anything, it's no harder to spot on this block than it was on my old block.

I've never dealt with a painted head/block myself, it just seemed to me like it would be harder to spot leaks. I guess not.

word, I keep my engine pretty clean, and oil is easily noticable, especially if it has collected dirt.

3 coats... The ceramic based engine paint coats really well.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I heard that the head is where heat is being released and if you paint it, it traps the heat in...

I just painted the front of my head, and only one coat.

You're right, it's possible that this will hold more heat in, but i never had any major problems out of it.

I don't think I would do it again however.
