my b16 emits black smoke?
Guys I need help I'm worried because my engine which has only 2000 km in it started blowing
black smoke. I seldom use my car only for short distances and a couple of races(drag). I changed the
plugs this morning and it lessened a bit. What do you guys think causes it? Thanks in advance.

diesel fuel?!? do a compression check and leak down test.. that should help pinpoint if it's rings, etc. what colour were the plugs? any fuel adjustments lately?

black smoke is burnig oil.
white smoke is burning coolant. (there are some acceptions like condensation and such...)
running rich has nothing to do with it. rich is just more gas than air.

Black smoke is when you are running rich and blue smoke is when your burning oil. When your burning oil usually the oill will leave blue spots on your bumper.

more likely it runs rich... i get black smoke especially when vtec engages... then again with these engines it must run on the rich side to get the most out of them...

VTEC wont cause black smoke if your engine is in good condition. And how does running rich make you get the most out of your engine?

yo ,,,, is it difficult to change the valve seals? i have the same proble.. my car runs pretty well but i mishifted a couple of time and ever since it throw smoke at wot... sorry didnt mean to get the attention from the actual creator of the post but i'd figured i should ask...
valve seals can be changed with the head still on the block, I think it is more difficult that way since you have to keep the valves up after removing the keepers.
Do a compression/leak down to better pin point. Blue smoke is oil, you'd be able to smell it as well.

ditto..except that running rich burns gas like a ****

yeah your running rich, it's ok just think of it as a smoke screen when you punch it!
