Default I NEED A LIFELINE....JUST DID MOTOR SWAP>

I just put a D16Z6 in my '93 civic hatchie and I am perplexed. I now have 2 MAP sensors....I have the harness from the DEL SOL that it came out of on the car now. It was a complete bolt up and plug in affair other than the VTEC pressure switch....I want to know what I can do to get the ONE map sensor to work properly instead of the car trying to read both. The old MAP from the D15B7 is still on the firewall with its side of the harness plugged in and the new one has its side of the new harness plugged in also.....Maybe I am too tired to know what to do but I think I fubar'd it up just a little.

Also....I am getting a code saying that the Intake Air Control Valve is fubar also. Is it possible to hook the coolant lines that run through it wrong and get a bad reading?? Does anyone have the sequence for the hoses to run it properly??

I appreciate your help in whatever way. I just need this damn car to run for monday for work.

you should only have one map sensor pluged in,it does not use 2 map sensors ,it should be on the fire wall witha hose or direct bolt onto the throttle body, make shur you are running a tps sensor (throttle position sensor),also, maybe you have the names mixed up because they look alike and the plug designs are alike,

the iac valve needs some coolant to travel to it,but make shure it is pluged in correctly and or using the correct plug from the wire harness and that your using the correct ecu, also iac valves can go bad also, check voltage.....see if it works

OK...lemme clarify some ish here. I KNOW WHAT I AM SUPPOSED TO HAVE. I NEED to know how to get rid of the other map sensor....I have the stock wiring harness from the plugs into the interior of the car. I have the civic del sol wiring harness from the plugs to the rest of the motor....should I swap the throttle body and harness from the D15B7 to the D16Z6?? Please help me guys....this is fricking gay and I am so tired. We marathon'd it from 2pm to 5am....hell yeah.

All that and to get it started it idles decent...starts RIGHT up...Won't rev. over 2600rpms and stutters like a ***** in front of something huge....really bad. I was able to baby it back across the road to my apartment and get it in a parking space.

ok im trying to help you out,im not in front of your car ,im a blind person lookin for my way around,,take the tps plug and the map sensor plug and switch them around, then try to starting the car and see what the result are in rpm increase. also i would have used the delsol harness.why? because the pins may not be the same from each harness from the motor and same goes for the interior harness to the ecu, each motor is diffrent, again im trying to help a fellow swapper out.

The motor you have has a TB mounted MAP and your car has a firewall mounted MAP correct? Just plug the MAP plug onto the one on your TB and get rid of the firewall mounted one.

I used my D15b7 harness on my D16z6.
Everything was right where it needed to be.

Then I added the oil pressure and vtec solenoid wires from the sensors right to the computer.

So.....Do we know FOR SURE what works.....and sorry guy at the top...I was a little tired. If the ecu is not getting a reading from the firewall mounted one then it should work properly, correct? I think that two readings is confusing the **** out of it.......I'll be downstairs now...just woke up 10 minutes ago. Any help from people who KNOW for SURE beyond a shadow of a doubt....and any speculators....thanks for all your help guys.

You say you have a plug in the firewall mounted MAP and the one on the TB? There should only be one plug, if there is two then maybe you have something else unplugged such as the TPS. When you do a swap and the MAP is now on the TB you simply use the same plug you had always used on the firewall and plug it into the TB MAP. Then you can take the firewall mounted MAP and remove it completely.

If you are using the same exact harness that you used on the old motor then where did the extra plug come from???

I am not using the same exact harness.....I have the Del sol motor harness (in engine bay) and the stock harness that goes from the plugs to the ecu. I am now throwing a code 20....electronic load detector. Aparently the map sensor is working....I hope....and so is the TPS sensor.....but we'll see. I just want to know how to check the eld system. In the Haynes manual it says that if the **** is fucked up than you have to replace the whole fricking main fuse box....holy hell.

I am throwing ALL the sensor codes so it must be the harness....which means I am going to take the old one off the D15 and put it on the D16....this is a ******* pain in the ***. Luckily my boy has a decent garage right across the way...

That is your best bet. Unhook the battery and throw the old harness on. It's by far the easiest way to get it going.

use the map sensor that is connected to the harness and take off the original one that is on the firewall.

Read this:

If you used the Z6 engine harness - you need to do 1 of 2 things.

1. Unplug the harness from the Firewall map - extend it if necessary and plug it into the Map on top of the throttle body.

2. Bolt on your D15B7 Throttle body to the Z6 engine, and run the vac line to the MAP sensor on the firewall...... either will work.

Well ladies and grumps....I swapped the D15 harness to the D16 and badda boom badda bing....it works. I have a small vacuum leak and the vtec needs to be hooked up but other than that I am good to go. The vacuum leak is easy to fix and so is the vtec.

Thank you so much guys for your help....wouldn't have done it without you.
