Default Question about a Type R tranny?

I know this is a Type Rsection but i need a little bit of direction of which way to go.
I have a 96 GSR that i installed a brand new Type R transmission with a Toda flywheel & an ACT 6 puck clutch. I had this setup for 2 years. After driving with setup for so long the inevitable happened about 6 months ago. The car just stopped one day. My guess is the differential broke or the differential pin broke.
I haven't taken it apart yet just because of time. I was also lucky to have a wife with a 91 Civic Std with a B16 thhat she would let me drive.

My question is which should I do?

1: Buy a new tranny from Acura
2: Rebuild current trans with a used JDM ITR diff that i can get used with about
20K on it

My other question is: Is there a difference between the JDM ITR LSD & the USDM one?

To those that have had this happen how extensive was the damage to the tranny & what did you do to remedy this situation?

Take it apart and see what failed before you decide on anything, could be easy and cheap to fix.

No difference between the diffs. What year tranny do you have, only thing that might be different are the carrier bearings.

I'd take the tranny apart before I bought a new one... find out whats broke as recommended above and then decide.

IF you can find a new tranny from Acura, you're have more skills than I do. I tried for over three months to find a new tranny, and supposedly the wait is at least 6 months. Good luck. I'd try my best to repair that tranny with new parts, not a new tranny.

the trannys have been released off backorder just contact Len

i'm beginning to think about rebuilding but is a JDM ITR LSD the same as a USDM or is a CTR LSD the same as a US one
