Default scraping over speed bumps...

ok...my car has not modifications whatsoever...

the building i work in has two small speed bumps that i have to cross to get into the garage. well actually, they're more like those 2x4 blocks with the chamfered lips...

basically, i have to drive over them really slowly ( i didn't even lower the dang car! ), but sometimes, i end up scraping something...is that the header that i'm rubbing? i don't have access to any lift so i can't really tell what's hitting...thanks for any help!

Find a friend who has a truck with a winch....and remove that crap late some Saturday night.

Personally, I would complain to the building management about it. Placing obstacles that can potentially damage a STOCK car in the parking lot is a load of crap. Tell them to get their act together and place some speed bumps that won't harm your poor car.

Don't know what you're rubbing. Could be some of the exhaust system, your front lip....a number of things. When does the rubbing sound occur? That is when the car is how far over the bump?

i'm pretty sure it's not the mg's...

when i roll over nice and smoothy...no problems...i have to roll enough so that the car gets over the bump...then i hit the brakes right after the car starts to roll over to the other side. if i don't do it "quick" enough, i heard a small scraping noise from the middle of the engine. pisses me off! i'm assuming it's the header or the tranny...

but yeah, i'll definitely have to talk to the parking management about it. if i do ever lower my car...i may not be able to enter the building w/o ever scraping!!! Thanks...

try to drive over them at an angle, not straight on.

definitely take them at an angle, at least 45 degrees and you should be fine...one tire over at a time...

I wanted to find out what was scraping on my car, so I drove really slow until I heard it, then immediately, put on the brakes, and pulled the e-brake. Then look under your car to see what's touching or close to touching = )

Speed bumbs have regulations too. They have to abide by certain regulations or they could pose as a fire hazard and have to be removed. A co-worker of mine saw this happen at his old job before. People would complain (stock fricken taurus's scraped!) but the company did nothing. Theywere finally removed, not because of the complaints, but because they were a fire hazard and violated regulations. I think complaint boxes are just more work for the janitors......>:{
