Default spark plug wires + compression test

hey guys, im prob gonna pick up compression tester and see how my engine is doing. i've been worried a bit that i've messed up my motor misshifting a few times and since its time for the 15k service soon, i dont want any unexpected surprises.any type of compression tester i should get or will any do? i did a search and sgt said anything over 180 constant is fine. is there

also i was thinking, while the plug wires are out, taking into consideration my plugs aren't fouled or anything, are they better plug wires that i could pick up? thanks.
