Discovery Channel set up a drag race competition between 2 novice drivers on two experienced race crews. The challenge was to take the novice's cars, modify them within a 2 day time frame and see who would be the fastest. The AWD Eclipse team was headed by Dr Charles Madrid and Autolink. The Honda team was headed by the Apexi crew with Jensen Oda, Gary Castillo and Lenny Higa.
Apexi pulled the near stock D motor and replaced it with a fully built B16 controlled by Apex Power FC and a XS turbo kit. Also helping on the Honda were John at M&H (with slicks) and Eddie Kim (with parts). You will have to watch the TV show to see who won the race at Irwindale last night but here are some pix:

its supposed to be aired next year sometime...like march/april
they want it to make it to a series..hopefully

 

Very cool. With some seat time you'll get that car very fast. Just remember, the most important thing is to have fun. If I were in your shoes I'd be soooooooooooooooo nervous!! Also, what ever you do dont listen to mike.

It was only done on an 1/8th mile so the turbo b16 didnt get to run the full potential yet. Give her some more seat time and she will be flying.

that's pretty damn cool. did they let you keep the B16, turbo system and the Apexi Power FC? also, why is there a Recaro seat in the third picture but, in the rest of the pics, the factory seat is there?

For some reason Discovery channel is turning into some kind of motorhead/ fixer upper type show. Look at American Choppers, Monster Garage, Monster House, American Hotrod (sucks) and now this!! very nice.

Seats were swapped there among other things. As far as I know, she gets to keep everything.

nope!! still in my garage and im gonna build it slowly but surely...i still have the love for the sohc's

 

Hey Wow this is pritty cool finally someone does a show thats not about street racing or people getting hurt by it, anyhow the car looks cool and I just wanted to congratulate in all of the parties that were invalved in the build and our H-T represented driver ...

I was just wondering if they had a set budget for the work being done to the cars or was it bring whatever it takes to beat the other guy??
It would be very cool to see this made into a weekly series!!
