92-95 sohc vtec itb, carb help please???????
i am in the process of trying to find 40mm carbs for my d16 just wondering if you needed certain ones and what hardware to buy and also where they can be bought and is it worth the performance gains?
i was just reading through a superstreet the september 2000 issue if anyone is inetested and i noticed a sohc crx running 11's with dual 40mm mikuni carbs and i was just wondering if there was any performance gains over the stock intake manifold? Thanks for all your support!!

the reason everyone is laughing at you is because only OOOOLLLLDDD honda engines run carbs....like that of a crx...
I think they stopped using em in 86 er so

Carbsare an economical substitute for a NA race motor, they are easily tuned and provide more midrange power. Weber, mikuni and the like I am sure produce carbs and manifolds for the D16.
Actually there's a company that makes a 4 carb set-up for the B18/B16. I've seen the ones for the D16, but it was a custom fabrication. It's not worth it if your car is a daily driver... but if it's strictly track, then you'd benefit from the extra airflow as long as the fuel requirements are kept.
they actually, made them till about '95 on civic and Integras in Japan and europe, only on ZC, d16a, d15bs and few others d-series motors.....they were all dual carbs, if you want one, just go over to one of the JDM parts dealer (used) and pick one up for free, since they throw them out, they just use the blocks

I think what you want is Individual throttle bodies and it requires a highly modified motor to see any gains from them and they are not easy to tune. Please people can we refrain from seeing things in magazines and saying to ourselves "hey he has that I want it now"
I am sorry not trying to flame the guy but most people in this sport read these magazines and see all these parts and think they HAVE to have them without remember that 90% of these cars are FULL TRACK RACE CARS and most parts will not work well on street cars.

2 guys I know actually have carbs, not sport injection (Individual throttle bodies), their cars are damn loud though. From what I understand, they work good. They both are running milled heads for high compression and a lot of nos. So as far as people laughing and talking crap, maybe they should do some research. I have seen it and it seems pretty dope, well it looks super dope. For the price, it still needs some more bang for the amount of buck, oh yeah and most likely very ILLEGAL, due to smog.
I say F*ck it, give it a try! Oh yeah, tuning is pretty insane though, temp, climate, etc change everything. They seem pretty sensetive to change. ITB seems like a better idea, you still have a fuel rail.

TWM D series intake manifold... it supports 4 Mikuni PHH 44mm itb's. I found this info in a Super Street magazine from Sept.2000. It's on a CRX with a 1.5L SOHC running 12's on motor.
bizi ezerio's crx is the car he was talking about it runs low 11's on carbs and i believe jay yuson's crx is running carbs too. carbs can make great power they are just a pain to tune, u just have to find a way to engage your vtec, u could use an rpm activated switch to engage vtec.

I think Lip in the Integra forum(who is selling his car) has those individual trottle boddies manifold. He said it costs around $2300, strictly track use only.
My friend and i are in the process of building a 12 second d-series all motor CRX..and are planning on using a TWM or something like that intake manifold.
The TWM is cool because it still is fuel injected..just has 4 40mm throttle bodies..flows mad air
