Default Dyno with HyperGround Wires.....

Finally got my hands on a digital camera and took a pic of my dyno.

1995 JDM H22a roughly 56,000 miles
AEM CAI
DC SS Header
Test Pipe
2.25 Exhaust
PYR Ecu
RC 370cc
HyperClutch
HyperGround Wires

4 runs total
First two runs are made without the HyperGround Wires
Last two runs are made with them.

My tech questions:

From 4,200 til about 4,700 my power curve flattens out. What the cause/cure for this? I'm pretty sure a VAFC will cure this, right? But would it be wiser to just get Hondata instead??

Is it me or is my power low?? I was hoping to at least hit 180 whp, but I guess ill wait for more parts.

Last Question: The reason why I got RC injectors was because my car lagged in the top end. When I first got my engine in, I could feel my car being limited to something. Checked the Timing and it was fine. My cousin and I switched injectors, he also has a jdm h22, and that was the problem. Saw a good deal on RC 370cc and purchased them. But did I go overboard? Would it be better to just purchase 345cc injectors??

Thanks for any comments.

Don

just incase the pic doesnt work.

the injectors are too big.. if you have an adjustible fpr back it down about 6 or 7 psi. also get rid of that header and tiny exhaust. dc is junk. the stock jdm header is better and the h22 loves the 2.5 inch exhaust

thats cool you saw gains with the ground kit... imo id just go buy some wire at the stereo shop and make my own junk.

try advancing the timing to 18 deg, that should help out alot if you cant lower the fuel pressure... the richer you run the more timing you can run...

If your injectors are too big you will lose power. running too rich = less power. More fule does NOT = more power, unless you get more air in there also. Did the Dyno have a wide band O2 sensor? Do you know what your A/F was per chance? You may or may not be running too rich, but it would be a good thing to check on.

JDogg - Thanks for the input. Yeah i wanna do a different header/exhaust setup. but currently trying to pay off my swap still. Only header in my mind is SMSP
Oh the wires were a bday gift

57STS - No the dyno didnt have an wide band O2 sensor. I was trying to get baseline runs before i have my cams put in. I traded my h23 (140,000 miles) for some type s cams. I had no use for the engine (bad bearings) so i said yeah. i know i wont gain much, if any at all. but at least i will have proof.

4bidden - Thanks again for the picture help. EVERYONE buy his shortshifter

370's are fine if you plan on going hondata or even getting a vafc. the ecu doesnt know it has bigger injectors and isnt controlling them right. proper tuning will aleviate this. Its probably the cause of that dip as well. What future mods do you plan on doing?

Future Mods will mostly be:

Install Type S Cams
Cam Gears
KYB AGX <--- i know not a engine mod, but it costs money.
maybe Hondata and tune
or I can just get a SMSP Header and call it a day!

other than that OPEN TO SUGGESTIONS!

Once again, a DC header have never produced a dyno on any Honda engine where it made more than 3-4 whp anywhere in the powerband on any Honda engine. Greddy, Mugen or SMSP (in that order) would be your best bets.

I have 370's anda V-AFC.

Anyways they are right you have wayyyy to much fuel. And the flatness you are seeing at 4200-4700 indicates that I think you should run with your butterflies open all the time. Secondary IABs open at 4600 and suddenly your power improves, which makes me think you're hurting for air in that region. Just disconnect the plug and see if it helps.

If you look at my dyno you can see it's smooth in that area because I run them disconnected.

what's a pyr ecu?

satan_srv - running with the secondary butterflies open all the time, would that be the same as REMOVING them from the IM? which would be the best choice? i'll try unplugging it, but i guess i wont know for sure unless i get another dyno, not a butt dyno. PYR is the shop that did my swap. Ecu chipped by PYR. http://www.pyrracing.com Website is new, but there they say they dont do Prelude or Accords??

kidaniel - Thanks, but i was hoping for at least 180 whp when i got the AEM CAI. Before i just had a regular SRI.

hondata can control the fuel pressure right?

so there would be no reason to buy a vafc if i plan on getting a hondata??

Back to the topic. As a electrical engineer, I really, really, really, don't believe any "ground kit" is going to do anything except make you poor. Even with the above posted dyno run as "proof", the before and after power and torque are so close as to be in the noise, that is, well within normal run-to-run variation. One thing which would have been helpful would be if there was a before-after-before comparison. That way the effects of the engine heating up are taken into account.

To be blunt, ground kits are another piece of marketing Bullshit.

kb58.. we have installed these kits on a few evo8's and they deffinatly made a difference in the idle and power delivery of the car... got no 4wheel dyno so we cant test it. i think its more the fact that factory grounds can be shitty. if you have good factory grounds then adding a ground kit wont matter. rember that the engine grounds are the grounds for the ignition system.. so a weak ground = weak spark. would i pay for one... nope.. i got enough 4guage wire left over from my car stereo days to properly ground about 10cars

His PYR ecu is a p28, so hes already running with the IABs open all the time because the p28 has no IAB control. So it's gotta be something else.

It was 300 to tune my Hondata for me. I been friends with them for about 2 years, so they kinda help me out sometimes, so I am not sure if that price goes for everyone.
Yup I am in Houston. I live on the northside, but work at I10 and Kirkwood, bout 5 min from PYR.
