My reverse lights dont work...damn JDM shift boots
Last night a friend pointed out that my reverse lights werent operating. I drove home and looked at the bulbs. The bulbs were fine. To make a long story short my shift boot (JDM) is so tight that the shifter doesnt go back far enough to engage the reverse sensor. I can put it into reverse fine. Anyway to adjust this?
push it down farther on the shifter. but be careful not to break it. or you just gotta stretch it out some. I had the same problem. seach around there are some posts on this in the archives.
yeah i pushed down and started to hear a cracking noise so i backed off
I had to pull back on the shifter pretty hard to get the lights to come on. Damnit, I still wish I had my factory shift boot and shifter

wait... do you have an aftermarket shifter? the switch for the lights in in the transmission. i know plenty of people with other shift boots (including myself) with no problem. i think the problem lies elsewhere

i had ordered it from inlinefour.com, they said it was an OEM JDM shift boot.
So the sensor is in the tranny itself...

Are you sure you didn't get a CTR jdm shift boot instead of an ITR shift boot?
I accidentally got a CTR shift boot the first time I ordered one, it was much smaller/shorter than the stock shift boot.
Now i have an ITR and it is much bigger.

I cut off the little knobby things on the inside of the ring that sits on the shifter. that let me slide it down enough to move it freely. It could be the wrong boot but who knows I didnt bother to check part numbers with Honda. Works fine for me now.
