'01 V6 Accord Rear Engine Mount
I'm about to replace my rear engine mount. Is there any thing I need to know about the work involved and the difficulty? Do I need to raise the whole engine or just support it from the bottom? I have really bad vibration. How important are the tubes that connect to the bottom of the mount? Thank you for any replies. I normally fix Boeing747 airplanes. This will be a new experience.
I am not sure which 'tubes' you are talking about. And now that I think about it, I do not know if the rear mount is a vacuum actuated mount (I know the front mount is vacuum actuated). Check to see if the rear mount has a vacuum line attached. If it does, you could have a problem with the vacuum supply line and not the mount (I have never replaced a rear mount on that year Accord for a vibration).
From what I can remember, there is one 17mm nut on top and four 14mm bolts on the bottom of the mount. You can remove the 17mm nut from the front engine mount, remove the bolt from the side mount (passenger side-17mm) and jack the engine up as far as you want. The mount should practically fall out...
The bracket for the front mount will not line up with the stud (on the mount) when you lower the engine. You will probably swear and throw tools at the garage wall before you get it right (so you might want to loosen the nut but leave it on the stud...).

Both mounts have vacuum tubes on them. I do not think they are at fault. The vibration is just too much and it seems like the mount is bad. My car was pushed under a school bus by a retarded driver that hit me in the rear with a great force. I was just wondering if I need to remove the rear bracket mounted on the engine. Thanx fo the reply. I'll post my experience after the work is done.

I changed it this weekend. It wasn't that much work. I was warned that it was difficult, but it was a pleasure job. You should have 1/4" and 3/8" wrachet set and you are all set. It was easy to remove the bracket and then the mount itself. The car feels like a fresh factory release.
