okay fellow ht memebers

im on the brink of selling my integra im so frustrated with it. the last month or so everytime i try and fill my gas tank (13.1 gallons) it will only fill up to exactly 7.1 gallons and i can only get like 200 miles to the tank.

now my gas tank has a huge dent in it (see pic below). the previous owner mustve bashed the hell out of it when he hit something. when i first bought the car (over 2 years ago) i had no problems putting 12 gallons in the tank. now all of a sudden i can only put 7! ive tried different gas pumps at different stations to no avail!

ive looked into buying a new gas tank, one without a big *** dent, and they run about $100 used. will a non-VTEC gas tank fit in my GS-R? anything special about installing a new gas tank into a car besides the fact you can blow up the gas tank?

im so on the edge of trading it in and getting rid of it and buying a new car. so help me out here guys!

also, who wants to help me install it? :D

He was trying to do the same thing your trying to do on his integra, He just passed on this past Wednesday. Not trying to preach or anything just stay safe and alive, not worth dying for your car.

 

Thanks...Now Im even more careful than I was before when I do any work on my fuel system or under my car.

 

can anyone give me a clue as how to fix the current gas tank so i can fill up to the normal level? i hate going to the gas station every 175-200 miles!

 

i dont think the dent has anything to do with it since i drove it for almost 2 years without any problems filling the gas tank with more than 11 gallons at a time. there has to be something else!

 

okay, how much labor am i looking at getting this done?

i dont plan on doing this myself after reading his post. i was wondering how much labor to expect from a mechanic...

 

go get a nomex suit and gloves and a helmet...wear that when doing the labor as a precaution

 

i take it nobody is going to give me a straight answer on the labor hours its gonna take.
