for those guys who have done the 9005 to 9006 conversion...
ok, basically i've done the 9005 to 9006 conversion. is there any easy way i can increase the wattage now going to me low beams so they're getting the 70 watts that the bulb is made to handle? i want my lights to be as BRIGHT as possible
If you installed the higher wattage bulbs, then you'll have all the light you would normally have as a high beam. Its the filament in the bulb that controls the brightness. There is no current or voltage control outside of the bulb. However, there are several was of boosting the voltage going to the bulb. You should find lots of info with a search. Many people have hooked up relays between the battery and the bulbs, and used the headlight control to turn the relay on and off, so they could use thicker gauge wire to feed the bulb. This leads to more voltage getting there, which gives a brighter light.

I agree
If you increase the voltage going to the bulb you also decrease the life expectancy of it too. There is also no way to determine what a safe increase in voltage would be since the voltage increases to the maximum limit when your car is running anyway without burning stuff up( accessories, lighting ect.). I did the conversion and I am very pleased with it, If you are not, Definitly go with HID's.

The only thing that the relay setup would do is allow the full voltage of the battery/charging system to reach the bulbs, and not be bled down a couple volts by the resistance in the less than adequate wire that is used in the OEM wiring harness.

what about the 9006 low beam to 9005's in the low beam spot.
which gives you two sets of 9005's
do a search on it...theyre really brite.
But I bought a set of bulbs 9006 two days before i read the post.

I totally agree that the stock lights are not that bright in these cars, but seriously, are you going to be driving around with high beam headlights in your low beam sockets? Does this seem like ******* would be the appropriate term for this guy? You are going to be driving down the road with your high beams on basically. perhaps you should do the HID conversion instead. at least then you aren't blinding everyone you drive by at night.
9006-->9005 conversion

It is basically cutting/soldering away some of the material on the 9005 (high beam) to make it fit in the 9006 socket. The bulbs are much brighter and do not blind people because it is the housing that determines where the light shines.

If aimed properly, it wont be blinding anybody. I had it on.. but my bulbs burned out so 9006 went back on.. HIDs are the ones who blind people..
******* would be the appropriate term for you. You dont even know what's the outcome of the 9005 conversion and you're flaming him about it.

werd, and if you notice the low beam reflectors are different and there is a piece blocking off some light, so its not like driving around with you high beams on all the time, i havent had anybody flash me in my civic yet, all tho i didn't the same thing in my accord and people flash me all the time, but i turn on my really brights and it shuts them up.. sorry but i'm just trying to see at night if u got a problem tuff, but yeah HIDs are deadly blinding i hate people of have them and turn on my brights whenever i see them
Anyone wanting a pre-fab wiring harness (~$50) for extra voltage should go to SUVlights.com. Make sure you get Hella or Bosch relays.
