I think the problem is Hoosier has a new tire for '04 also and it's going to be an improvement over the current one too, which means kumho may still be behind. The 205/50/15 Hoosier is so big, I'm not sure it will fit under the rear of an ITR without rolling the fenders. It's a cantilever (sp?) design and the tread width is massive! Saw it in person against the current Hoosier 205 and there is at least a 1 inch difference in width.
I'm thouroughly excited now. Finally, someone other than Hoosier makes a good race race tire. I love my Victoracers, and for the times I've raced dad's car on the V700s, they are great tires too... nothing comparable to the hoosiers, but still great tires and last quite a while. Out of curiousity, will Kumho make a road race AND autocross compound? (similar to the Hoosiers)
They've mentioned that the price of V710 race tires will be cheaper than Hoosiers. Not sure how much though.
If Advan/Bridgestone/Dunlop/Toyo etc aren't putting out much more models & compounds for N.America market like they do somewhere, then Kumho will still be quite competitive.
Using the V70A myself. I like them. But I'll move over to RA1 or 032RS next time see how it goes.
