gsr has some funny gears. 1-2 are.... long, pretty awful imo. i believe 3-4-5 are also different than the ITR gears.
FWIW - 4-5 GSR are the same as 4-5 JDM ITR, which are LONGER than USDM ITR 4-5.
Perfect tranny would be 98 USDM ITR with 4.785 or 4.929, IMO, because, again IMO, the 4-5 in the JDM R tranny suck, too long, they just don't feel right with the quick 1-2-3 gears.

Or just get an LS tranny, get an LSD and boost the hell out of it to make use of the really long gears!!!
Chris - who by 'boost the hell out of it' means double zygs boost!!

actually most turbo`d hondas still prefer the shorter geared trannies.

Yes, my mistake. Thanks jonas.
I meant to say 98+usdm/96 spec JDM ITR + 4.785 or ATS FD would be ideal.
97-98, 00-01 usdm = 96 spec JDM tranny
98 + jdm = 4.785 final drive, gsr 4-5 gears.

Not if you got 2+bar of boost...

Chris - who notes that Clayton was making great use of the LS tranny in his R at expo... although shorter R gears would have been MUCH nicer.

that really explains why my car blows once I hit 4th....does anyone know all the ratios for the JDM ITR tranny?

1st column is 98 + jdm R, 3rd column is 96 spec jdm/97+ usdm R
Check column four, gears 4 and 5, and compare to column 1... longer then 96 jdm/97+ usdm.

thats the reason i won't even get gsr gears, ls would really suck.. short gearing plus light flywheel really helps out with boosting..
