Default Weight reduction on 5th gen

hey, does anyone know what to take out to lose some weight on the heavy *** 5th gens and how many pounds will that part lose. thanks a lot. i konw about the basic AC and **** but do you guys know how many pounds that is and also i want to keep a full interior. i was thinking about the front seats with sparco's or recaro's. do you know how many pounds the seats weight stock? and mine are SH leather seats.

every 100lbs shaves a tenth of a second I believe, the sunroof, trunk, and hood(which I see you have) are of course the three easiest things next i would go trunk backseat.

sunroof weighs 40-50 pounds(thats as much as hood) and there is a guy on this board that used to make cf sunroof replacements, he still might. the trunk is heavier than some people realize, it doesnt feel heavy because its on shocks, springs, absorbers(whatevah they called) yeah stripping the interior sux, I once cut my hand pretty badly on my friends civic door when it was stripped. Not to mention looks, I plan on taking out backseat and getting sparco milano seats. as well as adding cf trunk and sunroof.

im gonna first have to find that guy or someone that sells replacements and just get the glass part replaced, Then I will prolly just keep the sunroof for a backup, wouldnt do me much good to sell it, I dont suppose when you calculate the weight and fraguleness of shipping

you take out spare? get lighter rims, lighter battery, you got the money for 2 sparco's go ahead. also keep in mind, when ur reducing weight, you might mess up the weight balance, and the cars turning characteristics will also change on u.

yea i got the lighter rims coming in already, but im talking about body weight. i dont liek to take spares out and **** cuz i like to keep things that a normal car has, i dont want to make my car a stripped out just drag u know what i mean. i haven't heard of the lighter battery so you can fill me in on some stuff about that. and i didn't think of the weight balance which im glad you brought up so now i can consider that as well.

Pretty much what you just said is you don't want a lighter car. There's really no where else to get weight down.

Anyhow, as a side note I measured my car stock (well with spare out and IIRC that was about it) compaired to it without any interior panels from the front doors back, back seat out, spare out, dynamat stuff chipped out up to the begining of the carpet behind the front seats, pass seat taken out, all seatbelts out, cruise unit out and the front vibration bar or whatever that thing behind the bumper is for... if you don't count the weight of the spare (since it was out in both tests) my car dropped almost 160 pounds and I didn't even remove the mad amount of dynamat under the front carpet and such.

back seats weigh 25-30 pounds together.....under the seats are 3 metal pieces that im thinking is for stiffness, weigh about 10-15pounds each....inside the front bumper is a big metal piece, im not too sure what to call it but basically it holds up the bumer, sort of a defense thing, weighs 60+....spare weighs around 30lbs.....

there's no point in weight reduction if you want to keep full interior. lighter wheels and relocating weight such as the battery from the front to the rear helps.

my a/c stuff was around 20 lbs for the compressor and condensor, maybe more.

isn't there a way to focus on making the 5g's produce power like 4g's? they just don't GET IT on acceleration, weight is very similar to a 4g... this has always baffed me why they don't acclerate so raw

I've also wondered what IIRC is also...

SweepeR 7, you mentioned that you are thinking about getting Sparco/Recaros? I checked Options Auto Salon and Recaro's go for about $520.00 a seat. What engine mods do you currently have in your car? Instead of the seats, I would just put more power to the ground. I think for the price of the seats you could get a Port/Polish, cams, or LSD. I think that would probably get you closer to evening out the power/weight ratio while maintaining your interior.

But if you have already gotten those mods, then lighter seats could help you out. I'm not too sure about removing the bumper support though.

IIRC: "If I recall"

Don't forget to remove Power Steering, A/C, cruise control, sunroof, vibration dampening mass, washer resevoir, rear seats/belts, passenger seat/belts, driver's & passenger's airbags, chassis impact bars, center console, carpet, tar, firewall mats, stereo, door bars, bumper supports...

are you sure recaros are 520 each for a prelude? i thought they would be more i nevre got ne prices on them but didn't expect it to be around the 5's i was thinking the 8's maybe. um engine mods i got a DRAG 3 coming up pretty soon once i get my license back. so its not much of a concern one im boosting 8 lbs but nevre hurts to lose some weight you know. what kind of clutch should i get for a turboed lude. they say CM is too hard on the tranny and tends to blow often. i had the ACTION in mind and i heard about the centerforce lately but dont know much on how the centerforce performs. oh yea and also if i get the LSD they take the whole ATTS out right? how much would that run for to get a LSD? around 800?
