Default Weak Hatch Shocks

Well either my hatch shocks have gotten a little weak or my R is trying to eat me everytime I put groceries in the back.

Honda wants $250CDN to fix the problem. My question is, do other Integra hatch shocks fit? Maybe I can rip some out of an old one in the wreckers or something.

its ******* ridiculous how much honda wants for those freakin hatch struts, both mine blew it out in the same day. a week after i got the car, and not covered by warranty.

luckily crappy tire had a 2 for 1 special on strong arm hatch supports. just get them for a 94 integra gsr. They are only different in teh fact that they have to be mountyed upside down, but who cares, i saved $220

They typically last 5-6 years on every Honda/Acura car I've owned. You gotta replace or rebuild.

There's a guy in western Canada who rebuilds them for the NSX for cheap and I bet he can do it for the ITR hatch struts too. More info here. I'll ask him if he can post to this topic here on h-t.com

I received the following reply:

"Hi Ken,
Yes no problem for Honda Integra hatch struts I do the entire range like the
NSX they are a good quality strut as well.
My services extend to a large base of different auto
makes,American,Japanese,European etc.
Glad to help.
My web site is Strutwise and e-mail at info@strutwise.com
Could we set up a link to web sites to help.
Kind Regards,
Frank Irvine

Shouldn't cost that much! My CRX si hatch shocks were about $50 US from the dealer and its seems like its hatch was heavier than the Integra's.

I'm not sure exactly but I think Frank charges around $25-30 to rebuild a pair of hatch struts. Definitely worth the savings (as long as you can let the car sit for a while while the struts are in transit).

My hatch struts gave out after about 2.5 years. I would get in and out of my trunk at least 6 times a day.

Get them online. Acura Carland has them for $52 a piece. (You may only need one.) And I hear Len has better prices than that.

They are the same for all Integras, but I don't know if I would trust something used. No telling how long it might last. But if the price is super cheap...

or you know, you can get the GSR ones for like $20 each at canadian tire. They fit and work absolutely fine!
