Question about preparing for a sweet 60ft. time on BFG's
I have BFG's 225/50/15's, yes i know you should do a burnout to heat them up.
My problem is that when i do a regular burnout (roll though water, stop on dry surface, e-brake up, clutch drop) in 1st gear its hard to keep them spinning without bouncing off the rev-limiter.
People have suggested a 2nd gear burnout, but should i start in 1st gear burnout and shift to 2nd and continue to burnout or should i put it in 2ng gear and drop the clutch from a stop.
I'm going to the track again soon and with a 2.0 60ft. 12's should be no problem

Yeh, 2nd gear and peddle it(the gas! i point that out because, i didn't think anyone would actually do it, but ive seen people slip the clutch durning a burnout! NOT GOOD!) haha. try to keep the rpm's right around the peak torque area or above it. 7-8k.
i hope you have a camber kit.. i'm on my 2nd set of bfgs and all 4 had extreme un even wear.. tires only last me 2 weekends =o(

my friend did a 1st gear, 2nd gear, and 3rd gear burnout with his zc in his crx hf with the ebrake up. The tires were spinning up to 80 mph at a dead stop! He ended up running a 16.9, lol
I couldn't get a burnout because my ebrake sucked so i just dumped it in first and pulled up, I ran a 15.9 with a sohc d16a6 engine, basically stock. my friend was pissed.
how come you guys can't spin 3rd??? or are you talking about with slicks?

he's talking about starting the burnout in 3rd, not starting in 1st shifting up into 3rd.

i think heating up the tires to much will slow down your trap speed but dont quote me on that.. i used to run 98-101 mph trap speeds, until i did longer burn outs with the bfgs my trap speed lowered alot to 93-95mph.. my times sucked too =o( guess its either the tires or something wrong with my car.. i'll figure it out come dyno day
second gear burnouts are the ****
u can keep it going forever if u want to
but make sure u roll throught the front of the water box if u have the bfg's u dont water up at the line.
