Default Spark Plug Gap

I just bought new spark plugs and the gap is too small. If I widen the gap to where it is supposed to be (1.2-1.3mm) won't the ground electrode and center electrode be out of line? I believe the plugs are at the lowest setting on my gauge, like 1.0X. I dont have it in front of me I'm on my break aqnd not at home. What ill effects will this have on my car? Raised idle?
