Default HELP......Just installed MSD coil and cap.

Last week I passed 30k miles and I decided, since I didn't know much about the original owners maintenace( got the car with 27,100k), I would give my car a semi tune up. So I ordered an MSD Pro cap Blaster 2 coil, and wires (oem wires were dry rotted).. I also ordered NGK iridium temp 7 plugs. I put in the plugs and wires last week, and the car really felt good (placebo effect maybe). I finally got around to putting the cap and coil in, and today while driving to work the car felt like it was hesitating bad .
What could it be? I checked all my connections, ie plugs/wires and connection from cap to external coil, all is good.

Hesitation starts noticeably @ about 4,500 rpm up until about redline..

And to answer the question that I know is gonna get asked, yes I do know stock plugs get changed @ 60k miles.

Please help!!!

I would swap your stock cap back in, and try new stock plugs (OEM denso's can be had from Autozone for about $7 a piece...). You might have a bad coil, or the plugs might be the wrong temp.
(just my suggestion)

Got the plugs from Brandon @ inline four, said he ran the same setup in his R with no probs. Maybe i'm just overreacting. I'll take a look @ the car again after work and maybe determine the prob..

Ah yes, the MSD Gremlins.. I had the same problems with that setup. The ignitor was fried the first time($180), and the second time I had to buy a whole new Distributor.. The second time I had problems, I had the 6AL box though. I guess Check the gaps in the plugs. The only other thing I can think of is that MSD spark plug wires tend to slip off every now and then.how some of this helps

factory cap and rotor and wires are the best, imo.

Thank you for the replies.. I just went out on break and drove a lil I think I was overexagerating. However I did check the gaps=ok. There was a bad connection between my connector wire from the coil to the cap. Ill check again later. It came out messy, so ill probably re- install it today lol
thanx

Make sure of your connections to the coil itself and sand off any corrosion. You may have to do this again now and then if you run into problems. I've put a relay straight from the battery to the +ve terminal and have had fewer problems
