having trouble launching in my new RSX type S?
I just bought my new RSX (integra) type s. I used to own a fast Integra GS-R, so im out with my new car tryin to launch, and its like impossible. is there anyone out there with a new type s that can launch at like 3.5 grand or higher, if so what did u do. i tried feathering the clutch and all. it seems impossible all i get is wheel spin. my car is stock.
When my friend was on stock tires (RSX-S; Hondata 4, Intake) he usually launched around 3500-4000 and feathered. This was his first time learning to launch and feather on a Honda (used to drive a 66 stang and a few other cars). But he has thrown on Falken Azenis just recently, and does the 5500 "launch control" that Honda/Acura has incorporated into the RSX-S. Just hold the clutch in and give it full gas....it'll sit around 5500 rpms. But of course...feathering helps alot. Just gotta practice
Be prepared to be frustrated until you get rid of those stock tires..........if you are not prepared to get full slicks, the best thing to do is get you 2 extra stock rims and throw some Azenis on there and you will be much happier and can even drive them to the track
5500 will then be your enemy........I dont give it full gas until the tree falls because if you launch during a cut-off it tends to hesitate for obvious reasons.......I can pull low 2.2's and high 2.1's all day on Azenis, but never have gotten below 2.30 with any consistency on stock tires

Have you ever driven a STOCK rsx?
puts out like 160 and weighs ~2900lbs..........a 2.1 is hardly possible in that form

he's right, because all tires have the same amount of grip and available traction!
