Default AC/Heater Fan only works on positions 3&4 - what gives?

Newbie here searching for some info. My wife has a 98 Accord EX and the AC/Heater Blower control switch is only working in the 3rd and 4th positions. I checked the actual switch and it seems to making contact at all positions, so I'm thinking there is something wrong with the blower motor itself. I just don't understand how it can work in the 3&4 positions and not 1&2. Anyone have any insight? If the Blower motor is bad, is it a big job to replace it?

Thanks,

How about #7 here, 'somewhere' behind the dashboard. I haven't had to fix mine yet, so I'm not exactly sure.

Not sure if it could be the same thing but I went thru one of those touchless car washes that just squirts high pressure water on the car, and after that the blower would Not turn on at all, but after fiddling with teh under hood fuses/relays it worked fine. Anyhow did you do anything that could have gotten something wet?

JimBlake - Thanks for that diagram, that will be handy. From the prices on that link, I realized that the stealer is trying to rip me off. They quoted me a price of $80.86.

brig4 - I don't think water was any issue here. I think if it were a relay problem, nothing would turn on. The wife just said that the 1/2 positions stopped working one morning.
