Changing Antifreeze?
I want to change the coolant in my 2000 Honda Accord SE. Where is the drain plug located. How much fluid will come out? Is it absolutely necessary to flush? If so, is this an easy process. Thanks! Also, my radiator cap is sometimes difficult to get off. Is there some kind of trick to it?
Lets pretend '00 is about the same as the '98... & I have a 4-cyl.
There's a drain in the bottom of the radiator. Another on the backside of the block, next to the oil filter. (I don't know about the V6)
There's 7.3 quarts but probably a quart or 2 still don't drain. I did about 4 drain/fills before the water came out clear.
Maybe your cap or radiator neck has some jagged edge that's hanging up when you try to twist it? Mine comes off smooth, so when you take it off look at it carefully.

let the air out with the bleeder valve, dont forget to turn the heater to max.
use distill water to mix a 50 50 coolant.
peak's coolant is good, dont mix coolant or brand.
flush every 3 year if you use distill water, if you filled with tap water, every 2 year or so.
try to catch the coolant because it's very dangerious for pet and envoirment, they do recycle them.

Get under your car. Right under the radiator will be hole for you to reach in and turn the drain ****. If you're going to drain the block, get a hose from Home Depot before draining it. Usually, I'm too lazy to drain the block, so I change it a bit more frequently. I do notice that the temp is lower too. If you drain the block, turn the heat on, wait for the fan to cycle on, shut down, add more coolant, and then repeat.
