Jun3 cams = plug'n play Myth or truth?
I know there are alot of people on the board who are pro jun or pro toda, for whatever reason. I am pro both. But I just want the cam thats going to be easier to tune, and live with. I make 173whp now, and would like to be in the 190's. I plan on stay stock compression for the time being also.
With the Jun ECU, Jun3 cam, gears, valve springs. Is it going to be for the most part plug'n play? I will fine tune it on a dyno, but I heard that the Jun ECU takes care of the Fuel/timing issues, and Vtec xover ..... Anyone with the cams, or has experince with them clearify this for me. Thank you.....

My best friend and roommate had these in his car and it was pretty easy to get going. Install all the stuff, strap it onto the dyno, and drive home with 195whp (if memory serves). He had a pretty solid torque curve too.
I know lots of people play favorites but it has been my experience in driving his car that it was very powerful and the JUN kit took care of things. All he did was get an adjustable FPR and some dyno time.

Those are really good cams but you will get more benefit from running higher compression. If you ask JUN they will tell you the same thing. I wouldn't buy that 1500 dollar JUN ecu, just get a skunk program with a VAFC and tune it. Those cams when they open the valves bleed off compression that 's why you have to go higher compression. Stock compression should get you into the 190's no problem.
if you want to see cam comparisions between the two go log onto:

You can spend 1500 on the ECU or you can get a Skunk ECU 300$ plus 350$ for a V-AFC plus spend a few hundred dollars on dyno time (if you have a dyno in your area) and hopefully get close to the same results as the JUN ECU. Jun also tunes there ECU's for different purposes, have a DC header they will tune it to that, want it for Auto-X they can do it. Everyone has there opinion's, mine is for the JUN ECU all the way
BTW I have the entire JUN head package, just no ECU yet.(i am saving up)
Good stuff guys.
I'm learning once again... I currently have I&H and a HF cat. I'm looking at which area I want to improve now. JUN cams and ECU huh? Sounds very intriguing...

I say the JUN setup is more plug and play so to speak.
I drove an ITR, w/ all jun stuff, ECU, header, exhaust, stage 3 cams and headwork.
It was strong, untuned probably 190-195ish... w/ gears at 0-0... tuned it hit 200whp.
It was a very strong car untuned and very streeable, minus the too loud exhaust.
LOL.
Tho thats a 5000$+ setup... tho i did spank a S4 in 5th gear at 75mph to 120mph.
I'd say you could hit 190 w/ Jun 3's, nice 2.5" collector header, Jun ecu, nice exhaust, maybe some headwork or lots of tuning.
Same w/ toda B's, just need a good tuner and godspeed ecu instead of JUN ecu.
I'd also go with the appropriate companys valvetrain too.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. From what i've read the Jun setup (with ecu) is a more hassle free setup. Toda B's may be capable of making more power (mid range for sure) but you have to tune the **** out of them.
I think i'm going to go with the Jun setup and hope it's worth the money. I want my car to run great and last, while making some decent power. And it looks like Jun3's are my ticket to that. They are expensive, but everything else for our cars are also. so **** it.......
Anyone with them on the board care to chime in? I would love to hear your setups, and any tips or problems you had. Thanks fellas.... Enjoy your weekends.
