i didnt read it all, but i believe they forgot to mention to warm up the engine. Also I highly doubt 270psi is normal for a b18c1 (in the pics you can tell it's a gsr), it's more like 200-220psi.

In my haynes book (yes I know, they suck, I just use it for torque specs etc) it says 270 is the stock PSI. I doubt even a brand new gsr motor has that though. My motor is 250 246 245 245 so it isn't too far off.

Also, when it says to crank the engine, does that mean get in your car and turn the key to crank the engine? Or are you suppossed to somehow do it manually? Sorry if it's a stupid question, but I'd like to do this myself.
Just hold ignition fully turned to start - just like a cold hard start keep the key turned all the way until the need on the compression tester has stopped.
NOTE: What they forget to mention - Its best to have your car operating at normal temperatures for a little bit ( like let it idle out for 10 mins ) or go drive around. Come back. Turn off car. Begin procedure.
Gsr at 270 compression is mega high in my opinion - 200-240 is pretty good for GSR
I believe LS/RS is 190+ good.
Hopefully this helps - I made the title of the article simple so it can be easily searched hopefully.

funny, i just did on today om ny mr-2. 230-230-245-230. oil fell in the one with 245. very high for a mr2, but has high mileage and carbon build up. my gsr came to 220 across the board too.

was it a stock motor?
mine seemed a little low compared to all the posts ive read on h-t.
but i guess its ok for a 100k+ stock gsr motor.

so you are suppoed to do this when the motor is at operating temps, but i thought you were supposed to wait for the motor to cool before you took out the plugs? please correct me if i am wrong.

Warm motor. But if you perform it on a cold motor you won't get the proper readings.
