Rough Idle...
I have a 1993 Accord EX... no mods just your basic transportation. With the A/C on whenevet the compressor turns on the car shakes... A LOT... I was wondering if anyone knew how to turn the idle up but just for when the A/C turns on... the car has almost stalled a couple of times... It's been like this for a while. Guess it's old age... 186,000 miles so far. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Got the same problem with my 92 EX. Its not just the AC, but any major electrical appliance such as the rear defroster or headlights or cd changer. I installed Bosch Platinum 4+ plugs which helped a little. Im getting better performing wires as well. I think it will almost do the trick. All these cars have poor distributor and alternator performance. If you have the *****, get a high performance distributor and let me know how it goes.
you really think it might be the distributor? I just changed all the plugs and wires in hopes of making it a little smoother... the Distributor ceased a while back and Honda Covered it and replaced it with an "updated" unit... THe battery is Brand New as well. Honda Battery this time as the other one corroded constantly... anyhow so this is just a honda thing huh?
My distributor failed on me too except mine wasnt under warranty and cost me like $90 to fix. Every mechanic I talk to say the 4th gen accord constantly has these problems. The 5th gen has them fixed.
Hmm the original went out at like 100,000 miles.. I have 186,000 miles now... hope that doesn't mean I'm due for a new one... It actually ceased... that was the only time the Accord has EVER broken down... and I heard the noise for several months before I was going to take it to the shop because it would come and go... and whenever it would go that's when it was in the shop... but finally it just kept making the squealing noise so I drove to the dealer so they could hear it and on the way back home (I was dropping the car off THAT DAY) it ceased. LOL. Oh well not bad for 186,000 miles huh? I can't complain at all... But I just wish there was a way to boost the idle boost a little.
i saw a distributor recall for 4th gens...so the dealer should have replaced it for free.
my car used to shake alot, although it doesn't do it often anymore...i never had a problem with the engine trying to die though...
