Default knock sensor on a built engine

ive been thinking about this lately...what is everyones thoughts, pro's, con's?

i figure if its tuned right it shouldnt knock...and how usefull is it on a turboed engine anyway

Well, if you're using the stock P13, then you'll probably need it w/o throwing a CEL. But with a standalone (Hondata/etc) then I'm thinking you can get away without it.

And it doesn't matter how well you tune it, since detonation can occur anytime without warning. (Bad tank of gasoline/atmospheric changes/etc..all affect your motor's state of tune) The KS is just a "safeguard"...although I would suggest a better KS with higher resolution like the J&S Safeguard.

ya thats what i always thought, hence why im using p72 hondata right now...i just started to question its abilty to work...espacilly since i might have to buy a new one soon.

Does Hondata include a feature where you can turn off the KS? If you trust your tuning, then you don't really need it.

since we broke my knock sensor when takin out my motor i havent got a new one and my car runs fine. its a h23 by the way ive put about 4k on the motor since i got it back and the check engine just comes on when the car gets warmed up right about 2 bars. but im puttin hondata and turbo on sometime here soon i hope.
