Default Best carb legal header?

I already know what the good ones are, but what are some good carb legal headers? Are there any w/ a 2.5 inch collector?

Comptech. It is 2.25 though. Jdm 4-1 is will pass visual and I've heard some people passing state ref with it. S o it may be almost considered Carb legal

legally the comptech. 2nd place would have to go to the jdm 4-1 with heatshields. As stated above, it will probably pass.

Oh and what makes a header carb legal anyways? Is it because it has a 2.25 inch collector?

No, it is because it has a CARB stamping on it that signifies that it has passed CARB emission tests.

But what prevents the JDM DC 4-1 and other headers from passing emissions?

you shouldnt have a problem with the jdm 4-1 w/heatshield ,as long as you are running a cat and your second o2 sensor is connected .

Search the great header test for gains on the comptech.

The DC JDM does not have carb certification because DC has not paid to be carb legal.

It's not that they don't pass emissions, it's just that to get a CARB Exemption Order for OBD2 cars, the header has to bolt to the stock cat (2.0", not 2.25") or come with a certified legal OEM cat (Carsounds are legal on OBD1 cars only, CARB does not approve use of Carsounds on OBD2 cars). The DC JDM does not bolt to the stock cat so it could not be approved because DC did not provide an approved cat for it to bolt on to.

The only CARB approved 2.5" header is the HyTech w/ Renault cat (cat must be used or it's not legal). My car was used by HyTech for CARB certification testing and it passed easy, actually ran cleaner than the stock system.

I went back to your posts in Apr and Aug last year, but I can't see the pics for some reason, so I have to ask: does the Hytech have the CARB plate welded on like the other legal ones?
