You have 2 choices:
1. obey the law
2. get something that is actually going to make power and hope you don't get pulled

or you can move somewhere that doesnt have carb and emissions etc and do whatever the hell you want...like me. TN is great, no laws on cars....at all, or at least none that are enforced so no one knows about them

if u get the jdm itr header with the upper and lower heatshields, if you know your stuff you'll know its different, but for the everyday person its way stealth, imo the comptech 4-2-1 (<U>non-race</U>) is probably the best carb header. proven to make some power, i forget which header test it was but i think it made a little bit more torque than the jdm dc

all the carb legal headers are nearly the same in power output. if you want to make real power with a header you need an smsp, hytech, rage, etc.

i think jdm itr is best cause it looks almost stock, makes decent power and has 2.5" collector

I don't think any 2.5" header is carb legal

nope because with a 2.5 collector you can't use the stock cat, and if you do anything to the cat then your not carb approved in cali at least which is where the OP is from.

Yes, there are several 4-1's that are carb legal.

For the person with the JDM ITR 4-1, it's still not legal, the shop you got smogged at just didn't do a visual inspection. If you got pulled over and the cop checked, your header won't have a CARB number and I think you would probably get reffed.

my brother had no problems passing the visual or sniffer tests with his jdm itr header using the heatshields and an aftermarket cat

i heard of collector 'mods' as well but i think this is a custom job where they cut the manifold right before the collector and weld a 2.5in pipe

personally i wouldn't run a itty bitty 2in or 2.25in header, the 2.5in is essential for high compression motors. if your just going boltons a carb header is good but for internals it'll restrict power

he did do a visual, but with upper and lower heatshields it looks pretty stock if u look at my sig u can see upper view, I take off s/c and run skunk2 intake to smog though

it's better than many OTS headers. plus it's oem quality. as with anything though, there's better.
