Has anyone heard of this??? I think it's really strange, could it be true, or am I just a victim in getting suckered into getting Spoon old stock?
Just ordered Spoon N1 & T1R b-pipe from A & J Racing to replace the 2003 new-design T1R cat-back exhaust (2.5" diam.,no bottlenecks) I bought in March.Unfortunately,I was one of those that got a defective one; just couldn't stand the rattling anymore.A & J was nice enough to offer to replace it for me,but it just makes me wonder...
I was told by A & J today, that Spoon has gone back to using/selling the 2.25" diam for Spoon's N1 muffler's,and that's the one I'm going to be sent
. I asked Alan if he knew why, but he said he didn't know.
Anyone heard of this? I can't understand why they would go back to using smaller piping design, when they redesigned this muff last year to increase diameter of piping to 2.5" so it would be less restrictive.
Forgot to mention, the Spoon N1 muffler I'm getting is from the shipment they just got from Japan LAST WEEK.

i have the newer Spoon N1 axleback. it supposedly does not bottleneck, but it actually does. it may not look bottlenecked from the exterior, but if you look at the picture, it's bottlenecked on the inside. i do not know the diameter of the bottlenecked part, but i hope this helps.

I got the spoon n1 recently as well , the piping does reduce to 2.25 near the flange. Since when did they change it 2.5? And if it bolt on to the stock mid pipe, it has to use a 2.25 flange. It could be the distributor modified the flange to 2.5 and ship it out to customer?

I asked A & J if it was 2.25" just at the flange or is the WHOLE length of the pipe 2.25"; they said the WHOLE length of pipe is 2.25".

That's the set-up I'm going with NOW, cuz T1R's newest design (2.5" stright through) cat-back exhaust I had on recenlty (March 2003) was defective so it rattled like hell & muffler was crooked.I liked it & would have kept it if it didn't rattle & had no fitment issues.
But what doesn't make sense to me is why Spoon would decide to go back to their old N1 design of 2.25" pipe diameter (not just were the flange meets b-pipe either but the whole length of the pipe before it meets the canister, according to A& J).I thought they changed their design to be les restrictive as of last year.
If it was just at the flange, no problem cuz it'd be only 2" or so of the length of pipe that would be 2.25 then it would merge to 2.5" diameter for remaining length of the pipe.
I hope I misunderstood something.Just though I'd ask to see if anyone else heard this as well, cuz these muffler just arrived from Japan last week, so it should be the newest design Spoon is producing.
