Why is it that Best Buy has the Alpine 7998 for 800 bucks and Ebay has them brand new for 525-575? and is it safe buying them from ebay?

 

you have to check their feedback....it'll give reviews if the previous people who bought from him were satisfied...i have ordered plenty of times and never had any trouble

 

usually because best buy has a HUUUUUGE mark up on cd players and the people on ebay sell it just above wholesale

 

It's not just Best Buy... It's pretty much every retailer... But he's right... People on eBay sell very cheap, but generally add a "handling fee" or jack up the shipping cost to make a little more money... Don't get me wrong. eBay is a great thing. I personally have feedback of almost 160, and I've gotten some great deals. Just have to be careful and deal with experienced sellers when you're making a significant purchase.

 

its hard to compete with E-commerce shops. this is why small retail shops have trouble staying alive. but also if you have any problem or a warranty issue dont even bother to ask for it, 9/10 times you wont get one. also no tech support to help you .

 

Only certain distributors/stores are allowed to sell Alpine. If you buy from an unauthorized dealer, you will not have a warranty. The only place that is authorized to sell Alpine online is Crutchfield. If the person on ebay offers you a warranty, it will only be their warranty.
