Default Mugen headgasket?

Hey guys, just a quick question to get some of your opinions...i have a fully built IB 2l block running their 11.8 C/R wiseco pistons with IB's fully built head, hondata s100, toda header, etc...anyway it put down 214/144 and now the head gasket we are pretty sure is shot, im getting ready to replace the exhasut with a better one <hopefully SMS!> and maybe the header too<again, SMS!!> and also a larger TB.

So my ? is, are there any problems with going with the mugen HG to raise my C/R by .4? any danger to the engine in doing that with my build? obviously im going to have it re-tuned after installing the HG, butother than running it un-tuned, any forseeable problems? valve to piston clearance issues? anything i should take into consideration?

Thanks alot for all the help guys!

nope, as long as you torque the head onto the block 70ft/lbs instead of the factory 60-65... to prevent leaking...

so....this 70ft/lbs, should they have done that much during the install of a factory HG on my build? this may be why ive been leaking oil from there.....

no, factory headgaskets should be installed with factory torque specs... maybe you just had a faulty headgasket... it is possible they overlooked checking the torque of the head bolts during assembly...

if your a 2L, your at 84mm+. the mugen is @ standard bore 81mm, the gasket would need to be modified as well.

there is a company that sells bored hg for that app you are running.
i have a question, when you got the motor from jeff was it just the block and the head or was the block and head already ***. was wondering if the hg you used was factory 81 mm and you are 84 mm that right there could be the problem of the leaking or did jeff send you a headgasket with the engine already bored out to your app, if so it may have messed up in the process

You should be alright with the mugen headgasket I have never heard of anyone getting the full .4 out. I don't know where mugen came up with this number but it is actually closer to .3 or .2. You should be alright to run that untuned for a little while.
