Default High Amp Alternator H22A Prelude

My alternator is dying. Any one have any problems w/ a high amp alternator?

I've seen a few that offer 135 or more. I'm running fog lights, projector lights, and soon will be adding a stereo system.

What's the draw on the Projectors and fog lights, and how big of a sterio? I bet a stock unit would work fine. If your system isn't retardedly huge you'll be fine.

I'm also using a 13.5 lb racing battery. Sometimes a car stereo can drain the battery quicker than it can charge. The battery charges when the music is at it's musical low. So I either need a higher capacity battery when I add the stereo, or a higher amp alternator. I figured the alternator wouldn't weigh much more.

get a DEEP CYCLE battery or get a CAPACITOR for your system if you notice your lights dim when your system is running
stock alternator is pretty good on the H22A (4-5gens) it can handle a pretty good load
I have 2-amps, 3-12"subs, 4-speakers, used to have 2-fogs, 80W-headlights, etc......... didnt/dont have a problem, with my yellow optimia deep cycle battery

i only read of 2 or 3 people using other alternators...sure you can do it but i think adding a capacitor and a Optima Yellow Top will help just fine

and where the hell can you find a aftermarket alternator for an H22????

hey guys, I got a 130 amp on my H23, where I got it said it would work for H22 and H23, mine is actually for an H22. http://www.mralternator.com I think it was 220 shipped, works great, less than stock power at less than 1500 rpm but it more than makes up for it in the higher rpm's, hits full power at like 2200 rpm.

I've got 2 amps, one draws 50amps, the other 60amps, max obviously. I have a crappy cap and have had absolutely no problems. At full blast the lights don't dim at all, the did with the stock one, even when it was good and with the cap. I definitely recommend them.

They only show Accord alternators. Does anyone know if the Accord alternator is the same as the H22A Prelude alternator?

Why bother getting a new alternator? Unless you're asking for some SERIOUS draw there's no reason to get one. The stock unit is rated at 100 amps, and unless you really are looking to go crazy with your stereo there's no reason to upgrade it. At max draw my stereo sucks up 80 amps but with a 1 farad cap there's no dimming at all.

I've got a stinger 150 amp.. Im parting my car out.
I'd sell alt for 300 + your stock one.
It was ~1000 new - PM or IM for more details.
