hard to shift after first autox,?
Yup i did 1st time @ autox and i loved every bit of it. with my setup. I was taking 2 sec. every run. I did 48's as my best run. I liked it so much and im actually signed up for next sun.
But i notice something as i went home. my G/F was driving home and she was complaining that it had gotten harder to shift, and i was telling her, how did it happen. I didnt reallized it till we switched and drove it myself, and noticed it more as i was driving to work. i had to play with the clutch a little bit just to get it into gear. It's not that hard like i have to battle with the shifter just to get it in gear, but i had just gotten a little bit more stiffer than it used to be. Is it just that i wasnt really prep'ed (like changing new MTF?), or i my tranny is just in shock since it my baby's first time out in the track and still need to get used to low gearing, high revin' stuff that you do in autox. Why do you think this happened? any help will do. Thanks in advance.

Hey
I'm glad that you had fun at your first autocross. I did too, but it's been awhile.
Anyway, to answer your post, you don't really need any prep for autocross. Just regular maintenance (oil change when it is due, MTF change when it is due, etc) will be fine, especially if you're running a stock or close to stock car.
What's the mileage on your car? On your clutch? Did you burn the clutch when you started off or anything? I don't see any reason that your car should be acting up unless you are approaching a clutch job anyway.
HTH. Good luck.

Well I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but one time I rode out 2nd gear to redline, and after that it got hard to shift. I didn't do any kind of drag launch or anything, just took 2nd to 8K rpm. What happened was pieces of my OEM clutch disc had broken off and gotten dislodged in there. I found that when I pulled the tranny off to replace the clutch and flywheel. That might be your problem.
yeah my clutch boke off a small piece of metal at my very first autox. I wouldnt be suprised it's just the stock clutch giving out because of hard driving.

You should check the fluids and master/slave cylinders first before taking the tranny off to check the clutch. Could be a smaller problem than you thought....or maybe not.
But, it is extremely possible for the clutch to lose a few pieces and springs and cause the symptoms you described.

i just changed my clutch fluid and the MTF will be a project for tomorow. if the tranny fluid didnt fix it then it is the clutch plate then.(hoping not!!)ill keep you guys posted on what will happen. thanks for the comments!
try greasing up your shift linkage...i had the same problem when my shifter would squeak and would go in gear hard, and when it would go in gear it would be harsh, but i had my mechanic re-grease my shifter and it goes in gear really smooth now...try that, hope it helps
