Default Distributor - making rustlings sounds - rotor?

Just what it says - really loud clicks that sound like the rotor is touch paper almost - not like i can take cap off and turn on car - i checked it seems fine, not touching anything. any ideas.

I've heard several Honda distributors making this "crunching" sound for lack of a better term. My '95 GSR did this for 18 months w/o any negative effects.

i had this problem on my 93 accord...

the distubitor's bearing is out....either get new bearing or get new dist. housing. for cheap ....around 100 bucks at dealer.

if problem on going w/ out fix....cause misfire and etc....and u do not want to stuck in middle of road...get it fix soon

Thanks - by bearing you mean what the rotor is connecting too &gt;? and we are talking about like a rustling sounds right ? almost chattery.

Take the distributor off. Spin it & watch the rotor & the sensors under the rotor. Maybe one of the sensors is rubbing? The star-things on the shaft are supposed to pass close to their sensors without touching.

Otherwise look at the bearing inside the base of the distributor. It's what lets the distributor shaft spin smoothly without being loose & wobbly. Does the shaft wobble? Does it grind or anything instead of spinning smoothly?
