I now drive my bro's 4 door GSR. He resently replaced a new clutch, but when u put it into 1st it grinds, it can go into 1st geaar but grinds, also his 5th gear grinds also. Some people are telling me it's the synchros. But what else can be wrong? and how much would it cost to fix this?

why not just get a new tranny? i don think there more than 700 dollas.

Try changing out the tranny fluid first -- I would recommend some Honda Synthetic MTF.

If that doesn't work, you're s.o.l...

 

Try changing your tranny fluid...if it still grinds then your 1st and 5th syncros needs replacement.

 

High rpm only? If so, syncros.

If it's at all rpms and speed, then it could be osmething else.

 

try changing out your tranny fluid to GM syncromesh........might as well try a cheap potential solution first

exactly.....high RPMs usually denote bad syncros......at all RPMs, possible a clutch/ clutch related problem

 

nope , not at all at high rpms. just regular everyday driving dude. Say i reverse my car in the morning and then i throw it to first it'll grind but it'll still force itself to go in gear like normal, it's just that there's a grind in between, and with 2nd,3rd and 4th gear it's oaky, then when i go to 5th it grinds again. not at all at RPMS just damn regular daily driving. So yea, is it still the synchros or maybe something else?

If your looking for a cheap fix My trans did the same thing we took it apart took out the syncros and filed the burrs off the edges shifts like butter now.....

i think it's the clutch if it's everyday driving.....maybe a spring broke or something....just my .02.....
